Special Education Teacher - Emporia, KS

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Kansas Special Education teaching license is required
• Background working in special education settings, particularly with intensive skills or autism-focused classrooms
• Understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions for students with significant needs
• Strong collaboration skills for partnering with general education teachers, specialists, and families
• Ability to create and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Passion for fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students with diverse abilities in an early childhood intensive skills and elementary intensive skills classroom
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and behavior supports
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress toward IEP goals
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic support for each student
• Communicate regularly with families to share progress and promote engagement
• Maintain a structured classroom environment that promotes safety and learning
