Make a meaningful impact supporting elementary learners across two welcoming schools in beautiful Vermont! This contract position is perfect for an experienced Special Education Teacher passionate about providing inclusive, effective support to students in grades K-4, with a range of learning needs.
This role covers a maternity leave from August 21st through May 31st, spanning two elementary schools approximately 18 miles apart. You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with dedicated teams and serve caseloads of 10-15 students (average of 12 last year) with a variety of disabilities, including learning disabilities, other health impairments, and students on the autism spectrum.
What we're seeking:
- Valid Special Education licensure and credentials
- Experience working with K-4 students with diverse learning profiles
- Strong understanding of structured learning interventions; Orton Gillingham or Wilson training (highly preferred)
- Confidence providing instruction and IEP support for students with learning disabilities, OHI, and ASD
- Collaborative approach and adept communication with teachers, therapists, and families
- Flexibility to transition between two schools as needed (schools are 18.5 miles apart)
- Excellent time management, organization, and planning abilities

- Assess student needs and implement individualized learning plans
- Deliver high-quality instruction and interventions in both resource and inclusion settings
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation for compliance and tracking student progress
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance student growth and well-being
- Communicate proactively and compassionately with families and staff
- Uphold a positive, supportive environment that encourages student confidence and achievement
