Qualifications and Experience:

  • State-issued Special Education Teacher license required
  • Certification for teaching Elementary School (Grades K-5)
  • Prior experience working with students with special needs preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to tailor instruction and adapt curriculum to each student’s unique needs
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)
  • Collaborative approach to working with general educators, families, and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students identified for special education services
  • Develop, review, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Track student progress, maintain records, and report on outcomes
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and other support personnel to deliver cohesive instruction
  • Adjust teaching methods and materials based on student assessment results
  • Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns
