Step into an engaging high school environment supporting success for students with diverse learning needs. This contract role focuses on special education instruction for grades 9 through 12 in a dynamic, student-centered program. You'll work a full-time schedule during the school year, with hours from 8:30AM to 3:45PM or 8:45AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday. Wednesdays feature shorter days for students and a longer lunch break for you, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
You’ll collaborate within a flexible model—choose between co-teaching, resource, or self-contained settings, shaped to your teaching style and preference. The caseload is manageable and highly individualized, with currently just 10 students (maximum never exceeding 20). Typically, you’ll only be responsible for 5–10 students at once, ensuring meaningful impact and purposeful interactions. Students exhibit mild-to-moderate learning disabilities or ASD and are part of an alternative program designed for expedited graduation.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Valid LBS1 certification for high school levels (grades 9–12)
- Skilled in writing and implementing IEPs
- Flexibility to adapt between co-teaching and self-contained/resource classrooms
- Experience with students with learning disabilities and/or ASD
- Bilingual ability and background in high school settings highly valued
- Indiana state licenses may be considered for qualified travel educators
Key Duties & Responsibilities
