Special Education Teacher - Evanston, Illinois

Make a meaningful impact supporting young learners by serving as a Special Education Teacher for a contract position in a K-2 classroom. This opportunity offers the chance to guide a dedicated group of five students, helping each child build foundational skills for future success.

As a full-time educator, you’ll collaborate closely with staff and families, develop individualized plans, and implement creative strategies to foster growth and inclusion. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the remainder of the academic year, working from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience or passion for working with elementary-age students, particularly those with diverse learning needs
• Familiarity with developing and delivering Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with parents, therapists, and fellow educators
• Creative problem-solving approach and adaptability to support varying learning styles and needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and interventions tailored to an intimate group of K-2 students
• Develop, review, and implement IEPs in accordance with best practices and legal requirements
• Foster a nurturing, structured classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and self-confidence
• Maintain clear communication with families and multidisciplinary team members
• Collect data and monitor progress, adjusting instruction to maximize student outcomes
