Bring your passion for empowering high school students with special needs to a dynamic alternative learning environment! An exciting contract position is available for a Special Education Teacher supporting 10th–12th grade students for the 2026–2027 academic year. This full-time opportunity offers a consistent schedule Monday to Friday, with the option to choose between 8:30AM–3:45PM or 8:45AM–4:00PM hours (lunch and planning time included). Wednesdays feature a half day for students, providing you with an extended lunch for planning and collaboration.

As part of a supportive, collaborative team, you'll facilitate meaningful academic and functional growth for a select group of high schoolers (ages 16+), with a current caseload of 10 students (never exceeding 20 for the whole program, and typically managing 5–10 at any time). These students have mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder, participating in an alternative program that helps them work toward graduation at an individualized pace.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Valid LBS1 certification required for 10th–12th grade.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high school-aged students (16 years and older).
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and instructional adaptation.
  • Flexibility for co-teaching, self-contained, or resource settings (your preference can be accommodated).
  • Bilingual abilities and prior high school special education experience are highly valued, but not essential.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and student-centered environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in both group and individualized formats.
  • Collaborate closely with resource staff, classroom assistants, and the onsite case manager.
  • Write and implement IEPs, measure progress, and maintain compliance.
  • Create a supportive, structured class climate that empowers students of diverse backgrounds to excel.

Bring your expertise and dedication to a team that values your contributions and offers the autonomy to shape your teaching role. If you’re ready to make a difference in the lives of high schoolers striving to reach graduation, apply now to explore this rewarding opportunity!

Compensation for this position ranges from $33.05 to $53.05. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
