Two contract positions are available for dedicated educators at a middle school, supporting the upcoming academic year. These positions offer a full-time schedule (Monday through Friday, 35–37.5 hours weekly), providing the continuity and stability crucial for meaningful educational impact.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Active Connecticut certification in special education, or eligibility to obtain such certification.
- Experience with or training in reading interventions such as SPIRE, WILSON, Orton-Gillingham, or similar programs is highly preferred for one of the roles.
- Strong ability to support students with diverse learning needs across English, Math, and executive functioning skills.
- Commitment to fostering growth, independence, and confidence in middle school learners.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a student-centered approach.
Responsibilities:
- For the first opening: Guide 6th-grade students in English Language Arts and Math, delivering specialized instruction and implementing research-based reading and math intervention strategies.
- For the second opening: Provide academic assistance to students in grades 6-8, focusing on executive functioning goals, supporting core subject understanding, and maintaining a supportive, resource-rich learning environment.
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction tailored to IEP goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure optimal student progress.
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings and progress monitoring activities.
