Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for elementary students (K-2). This contract position focuses on working with a class of approximately 20 students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD). Your expertise and dedication will help each child reach critical developmental milestones within an engaging, supportive in-person classroom environment.

As an essential member of the educational team, you'll create and implement individualized lesson plans, collaborate with colleagues, and provide hands-on support tailored to each child’s needs. Start as soon as possible and remain part of this dynamic, caring school community through June 13th, 2026.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Maine teaching license for elementary-age students
  • Background in special education, with experience or training working with K-2 populations
  • Strong understanding of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and relevant instructional strategies
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset for working with teachers, support staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in-person for K-2 students with SLD
  • Assess and monitor student learning; adapt and modify lessons as needed
  • Develop and maintain IEPs and other necessary documentation
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom climate
  • Consult and coordinate with classroom teachers, aides, and other specialists
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress
