Special Education Teacher in Farmville, VA

This contract opportunity offers flexible hours totaling 300 hours, with the flexibility to complete hours within the agreed-upon timeframe. Located near Prospect, Virginia, you'll be working closely with a single student in their home, delivering essential compensatory services tailored to support their learning and development.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Adapted Curriculum K-12th license required
• Experience working with students with significant needs, including non-verbal learners
• Background in managing and supporting self-injurious behaviors
• Compassionate, patient approach, comfortable collaborating with families in a home setting
• Strong communication skills and ability to adapt instructional strategies to the student’s needs
• Familiarity or interest in providing services in virtual/remote settings is a plus (format to be determined)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instructional and behavioral supports for a non-verbal 1st grade student in a home-based environment
• Develop engaging learning materials and activities that align with compensatory education goals
• Track progress, document sessions, and adapt strategies as needed based on student response
• Maintain clear communication with family members and school support teams to ensure consistent and effective service delivery
• Proactively address the student’s unique challenges, including implementing interventions for self-injurious behaviors
