This contract opportunity centers around providing dedicated, individualized support to a single 1st-grade student in their home near Prospect, Virginia. With a total commitment of 300 hours, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering compensatory services tailored to the needs of a non-verbal student who demonstrates self-injurious behaviors.

In this setting, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing an adapted curriculum K-12, meeting all unique educational goals.
  • Working one-on-one with the student to facilitate learning, communication, and engagement.
  • Monitoring progress and adjusting instructional strategies to address the student's evolving needs.
  • Employing positive behavioral support techniques to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
  • Maintaining detailed records and collaborating with family members to optimize service effectiveness.
  • Ensuring all services comply with established educational and licensure standards.
  • Flexibility to provide services potentially in-person or, if determined, in a virtual format.

Candidates should bring:

  • A valid Special Education Adapted Curriculum K-12th license.
  • Experience providing direct instruction to students with significant communication and behavioral needs.
  • Skill in adapting instructional methods and materials for non-verbal learners.
  • Patience, creativity, and a compassionate approach in working with students exhibiting self-injurious behaviors.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
