Special Education Teacher in Fenton, MI

Multiple contract positions are available in self-contained and resource classrooms, serving K–12 students with cognitive impairments or learning disabilities. Key Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate (required)
• Preferred endorsements: Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), Learning Disabilities (LD), or MDE Early Childhood (ZA) plus another special education area
• Knowledge of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations
• Experience working with diverse urban student populations (academic or professional)
• Ability to provide documentation of official university transcripts before placement

Role Responsibilities:

• Lead instruction in a self-contained or resource classroom (max 22 students), tailoring strategies to meet IEP goals and address social, emotional, and academic needs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and other support staff within a cohesive special education team
• Engage with students and families to connect them to appropriate educational and community resources
• Participate in professional growth opportunities, benefiting from training and mentorship provided
• Foster an inclusive learning environment while adapting to varying caseloads based on current needs
