Step into a dynamic educational environment catering to the needs of diverse learners for the 2026-2027 school year. Multiple contract openings are available for dedicated special education professionals passionate about making a real impact in urban school settings. Assignments range from self-contained to resource classrooms, with opportunities to support students with cognitive and emotional impairments (K–12), as well as those with learning disabilities at various grade levels. Class sizes are capped at 22, and you’ll be joining a strong support network of experienced paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and a dedicated special education team—empowering you to focus on what matters most: your students.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with preferred endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or Learning Disabilities (LD). MDE ZA (Early Childhood) and another special education endorsement also considered.
  • Comfortable with urban school challenges and committed to supporting students with varying needs.
  • Understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA Federal Regulations.
  • Ability to communicate how you would address the needs and struggles of urban children and identify appropriate resources for students and families.
  • Copy of official university transcripts required prior to placement.
  • Previous experience in self-contained or resource classrooms strongly preferred.

Role Expectations:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support for K–12 students in self-contained or resource classroom settings.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and special education teams.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum for diverse learners, ensuring full compliance with IEPs and MARSE guidelines.
  • Participate in professional development, mentorship programs, and ongoing training from the Academic team.
  • Onsite presence required during school hours, 35 hours per week; interviews will be conducted remotely.
