A new opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to step into a rewarding contract role, providing vital support to elementary students with mild disabilities in a dedicated self-contained classroom. This is a full-time position scheduled for 35 hours per week, aligning with the 2026–2027 academic year, and based onsite at a welcoming elementary school near Fishers, IN.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active Indiana teaching license in Special Education (required; screenshot must be provided with application)
- Experience working in a self-contained classroom or with students with mild disabilities is highly desirable
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, therapists, and general education staff
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom for up to 12 students with mild disabilities, delivering specialized instruction and academic support
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with state and federal education guidelines
- Communicate regularly with families, support staff, and administration to facilitate student success
- Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging growth, independence, and self-advocacy
