This full-time position offers an opportunity to serve as a Resource Room or Special Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year in Flint, MI. The role primarily involves working onsite in a diverse, urban district environment, supporting students with varied special education needs within self-contained classrooms or resource rooms.

Key responsibilities include managing a caseload of up to 22 students, ranging from Early Learning (pre-K) through K-12 levels, and delivering tailored instruction aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Emphasis will be placed on addressing learning disabilities and potentially emotional impairment or cognitive impairment, depending on endorsements held.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Michigan teaching certificate with a Learning Disabilities endorsement required.
  • Preferred endorsements include Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or Early Childhood (MDE endorsement ZA), plus at least one additional special education area.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of urban students and their families.
  • Familiarity with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations.
  • Comfort working in an on-site capacity in an urban school district setting.
  • Availability for full-time employment (approximately 35 hours per week).
  • Willingness to participate in remote interviews.
  • Candidates should be prepared to discuss strategies for supporting urban children and resources beneficial to their educational success.
