Special Education Teacher | Flint, Michigan

Multiple positions are available supporting a vibrant, diverse district with self-contained classrooms (maximum of 22 students) and resource rooms serving grades K-12. Key Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with Learning Disabilities (LD) endorsement; Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), and/or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) with another Special Education area preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (official university transcripts required prior to district presentation)
• Familiarity with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations
• Experience working with children with cognitive impairments and/or learning disabilities across multiple grade levels
• Willingness to work onsite and engage deeply with the unique strengths and challenges of an urban school community
• Strong understanding of resources and supports relevant to urban students and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead instruction for cognitive impairment and resource classrooms K-12, including students with LD, EI, and CI needs
• Adapt and deliver individualized education plans (IEPs) to promote student growth and achievement
• Collaborate regularly with classroom paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, mentors, and the Academic team
• Participate fully in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and the school community
• Maintain thorough documentation and compliance in line with state and federal guidelines
