Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Learning Disabilities endorsement preferred
- Additional highly desired endorsements: Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or MDE Early Childhood (ZA) plus one other Special Education area
- Experience with K-12th grade self-contained or resource classrooms
- Strong understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA federal regulations
- Commitment to supporting urban students, cultural competence, and familiarity with local resources
- Copy of official university transcripts (required prior to assignment)
Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction to students in self-contained and resource settings (K-12)
- Manage caseloads (may vary by classroom)
- Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and an interdisciplinary team
- Participate in professional development and mentorship programs
