Special Education Teacher - Floral Park, New York

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification for the appropriate grade levels
• Previous experience working with K-2 students, particularly in a special education setting
• Strong understanding of behavioral management techniques and the ability to implement individualized behavior plans
• Comfortable working with a small group (8 students) and adapting instruction to meet varied needs
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators
• Ability to maintain classroom structure and foster a supportive, inclusive environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and individualized instruction to meet students’ academic, behavioral, and social needs
• Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies as required
• Collaborate with paraeducators and support staff to provide comprehensive care
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and any concerns
• Foster a nurturing classroom culture that emphasizes respect, trust, and achievement
