Special Education Teacher in Florence, SC

The role is based in an in-person, self-contained classroom environment, working with students who have moderate intellectual disabilities and autism.

Key qualifications and experience:

• Current Special Education Teacher certification (required)
• Previous experience supporting elementary-aged students
• Background working with self-contained classroom settings strongly preferred
• Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instructional strategies
• Expertise in supporting students with autism and/or moderate intellectual disabilities preferred
• Commitment to a collaborative, supportive educational community
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Duties and responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized lesson plans tailored to the needs of each student
• Foster a supportive, structured learning environment
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other team members to maximize student success
• Monitor and document progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed
• Engage regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress
• Maintain compliance with state and federal special education requirements
