Position begins mid-October and runs through the end of the school year. Your daily schedule aligns with campus assignments and generally follows these hours: Elementary (8:00 AM – 3:30 PM), Middle/High School (8:20 AM – 3:50 PM), and Intermediate (7:30 AM – 3:00 PM), with the expectation to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the student day. Caseloads may vary based on program placement: self-contained and life skills/SLC classes typically consist of 8–14 students plus two dedicated paraprofessionals; resource/inclusion roles serve approximately 20–30 students. This supportive environment encourages collaboration and student-centered approaches.
Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Department of Education Special Education teacher certification (EC-12 required)
- Generalist/Core certification for EC-6 or 6-12 preferred
- Experience contributing to Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings
- Willingness to adhere to professional dress code standards (including haircut/color and piercing guidelines)
- Strong commitment to inclusive, equitable education
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide differentiated instruction and behavioral supports tailored to student needs
- Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals and support staff
- Engage and participate in ARD meetings
- Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
