Special Education Teacher - Fort Benning, Georgia

There are two exciting opportunities available: a middle school role (grades 6-8) in a self-contained classroom (not focused on severe disabilities, caseload of 10 students) and the potential for an elementary inclusion position (grades K-2) with a caseload of 13 students.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Georgia teaching certificate with Special Education Adapted Curriculum endorsement
• Experience or strong interest working with students in middle or elementary grades
• Ability to create and maintain a supportive, structured classroom environment
• Skill in adapting curriculum and instructional methods to individual student needs
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with families and staff
• Commitment to fostering student independence and social-emotional growth

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on student IEPs
• Utilize a variety of strategies to promote academic and personal development
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in compliance with district and state requirements
• Foster an inclusive classroom culture that values each student’s abilities
• Work collaboratively with general education teachers and specialists
• Communicate regularly with families, keeping them engaged in student progress
