Special Education Teacher | Fort Hood, Texas

This opportunity centers on supporting elementary-aged students in a life skills classroom, focusing on those with moderate to severe needs—some presenting significant behaviors. A strong support system is in place, including two dedicated paraprofessionals present at all times and access to a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

You’ll be responsible for teaching a small caseload of 8-10 students, helping them develop crucial academic, social, and life skills in a structured, nurturing environment. The assignment starts as soon as the right candidate is ready and continues through the end of the 2026–2027 school year.

Qualifications:

• Current Special Education teaching license, valid for grades EC–6.
• Experience with elementary students, particularly those in life skills or intensive support programs.
• Understanding of positive behavioral interventions and supports.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with paraprofessionals, related services staff, and families.
• Ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and adaptive classroom environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs.
• Employ evidence-based teaching strategies to address academic, behavioral, and functional goals.
• Supervise and collaborate closely with classroom paras and RBT to ensure safety and promote growth.
• Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress.
• Coordinate with families and multidisciplinary teams to promote student well-being and community involvement.
