Make a difference every day supporting students as a full-time Special Education Teacher focused on elementary learners. This contract opportunity is based at an elementary school in the Kendallville area, just outside of Fort Wayne, Indiana. You’ll have an immediate start and the flexibility to continue for the extended school year or transition into a permanent position.
The position offers a standard school schedule, with dedicated hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. As a valued member of the special education team, you'll deliver essential services to a group of K-6th grade students—primarily Applied Skills learners, the majority with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). An Indiana Mild or Intense Intervention license is required.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education (Mild or Intense Intervention)
- Experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), especially in an elementary setting
- Strong skills in classroom management, instructional adaptation, and individualized education plan (IEP) development
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Passion for fostering growth, independence, and inclusion for all learners
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to students’ unique learning needs
- Assess student progress and update IEPs accordingly
- Implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to support ASD learners
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and the school community
- Monitor and track student performance, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
