Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification for Texas
- Substantial experience working with students exhibiting severe behavioral needs
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training strongly preferred
- Ability to employ evidence-based behavioral management techniques
- Strong collaborative skills to work alongside other educators and support staff
- Passion for creating an inclusive, positive classroom atmosphere
- Adaptability and effective communication with students, families, and colleagues
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized instruction and behavioral plans for students with significant behavioral differences
- Work closely with a small group (grades 1–3), emphasizing positive reinforcement and appropriate coping strategies
- Monitor student progress, documenting behavioral and academic data to adjust interventions as needed
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and administration to ensure student success
- Facilitate social and emotional learning activities that build self-advocacy and interpersonal skills
- Participate in team meetings, providing insight on student needs and best practices
