Special Education Teacher | Franklinton, North Carolina

Step into a fulfilling contract role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic school setting for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time position runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, offering a consistent Monday through Friday schedule (7:15am – 3:15pm, 37.5 hours weekly). You will guide students with mild to moderate needs in a self-contained environment, collaborate with colleagues to ensure student growth, and provide targeted support both in classrooms and inclusion settings.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification/license.
• Experience working with students across a range of academic, behavioral, and learning needs.
• Strong skills in collaboration with faculty, staff, and families.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement IEPs.
• Effective classroom management techniques.
• Background in English is a plus for inclusion roles, but not required.
• Comfortable working with diverse middle and high school populations.

Your Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of approximately 12 students in a mild/moderate self-contained setting.
• Serve as an EC Middle School Teacher for students with intensive needs.
• Provide instruction in two self-contained high school classrooms.
• Support an inclusion high school caseload of 35-40 students.
• Deliver inclusive services at the high school and targeted support for grades 6–8 at an adjacent STEM school.
• Monitor student progress, update IEPs, and adapt strategies to meet individual goals.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
