Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement compliant, measurable Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
• Deliver direct instruction aligned to state standards and personalized student goals
• Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies specific to Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
• Work closely with speech-language pathologists, therapists, psychologists, and behavior specialists
• Provide supervision, guidance, and direction to classroom paraprofessionals
• Collect, analyze, and report student progress data while ensuring compliance with documentation requirements
• Nurture essential communication, social skills, self-regulation, and independence among students
• Maintain a safe, engaging, and structured classroom that encourages growth and trust

Required Qualifications:

• Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility to obtain one
• Proven experience developing and implementing IEPs
• Knowledge of special education compliance standards and documentation
• Demonstrated classroom management and behavior support expertise
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with both interdisciplinary teams and families

Preferred Experience:

• Prior work supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, especially in a self-contained classroom setting
• Familiarity with ABA principles, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication strategies
• Experience supporting students with significant cognitive and behavioral challenges
• Crisis prevention or de-escalation training is highly valued
