An exciting opportunity awaits an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a meaningful impact in a one-on-one elementary setting. This contract role, spanning July 2026 through August 2027, calls for a dedicated educator to support a vibrant 5-year-old student who is non-verbal with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) in a school setting near Mountain View, CA. The position focuses on providing tailored instruction, fostering social-emotional learning, and facilitating holistic growth in close collaboration with an expert team of specialists.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching credential (California preferred).
- Background delivering individualized, project-based, sensory-informed lessons to elementary students with complex needs.
- Expertise adapting instruction aligned to California CTC Core standards.
- Familiarity with Unique Learning Systems (ULS) is a significant advantage.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (AAC, SLP, TVI, BCBA, OT).
- Strong communication skills and commitment to student-centered, innovative approaches.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction following special education and adapted curriculum frameworks.
- Develop visually accessible, communication-rich lessons that leverage project-based and sensory strategies.
- Support the student’s ability to build communication, social, and self-regulation skills.
- Engage in collaboration and planning with a specialized team to maximize student engagement and holistic progress.
- Maintain thorough documentation and participate in professional discussions from 1:00 pm to 2:30/3:00 pm after direct instructional hours.
- Uphold high standards of classroom management, safety, and inclusivity.
