Embark on a rewarding journey shaping young minds in an Early Childhood Special Education classroom. This contract opportunity is situated near Fruitport, MI and focuses on supporting a small group of students in their formative years. The position starts part-time (up to 30 hours per week), with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time role as additional students enroll throughout the school year. Consistency is key, so we’re seeking a professional who can commit for the entirety of the academic year.

You’ll have your own dedicated classroom space, three supportive assistants, and the guidance of a seasoned ECSE teacher at the school, ensuring a collaborative and nurturing environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Michigan certification in Special Education required
  • Experience in early childhood or ECSE settings strongly preferred
  • Comfortable managing a small class and coordinating with paraprofessionals
  • Ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs and IEP goals
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • Collaborative, resourceful, and adaptive to changing classroom rosters

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for up to 6 students (with potential for more)
  • Lead your classroom with the support of three assistants
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning atmosphere
  • Collaborate with families, specialists, and school staff
  • Adjust teaching strategies based on ongoing assessment and student progress
  • Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and progress tracking
