A specialized opportunity is available for a certified Special Education Teacher to provide support for a self-contained autism classroom serving 1st and 2nd graders. This role focuses on delivering the general curriculum while addressing specific behavioral needs in an elementary school setting. The position is based in Gainesville, GA, at an elementary school and is available as a contract for the current school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction tailored to students in a self-contained autism support classroom.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) while adapting lessons across multiple subjects.
- Manage behavior needs with appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Collaborate with staff and parents to support student progress.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must hold a valid Georgia Special Education certification (Adaptive SPED or General SPED).
- Certification required in all elementary subject areas (Reading, Writing, Science, Social Science, Math) for grades P-5.
- Experience working with students with autism and behavioral challenges.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Candidates will undergo three reference checks, including one recent or current principal or assistant principal.
