As a Special Education Math Teacher serving grades 6–8, you’ll deliver engaging math instruction, adapting lessons to diverse learning needs in a supportive environment. Collaborate with dedicated colleagues and help empower students in a setting designed for their success.
Key Qualifications:
- Maryland Special Education Certification (minimum grades 6–12) is required.
- Maryland Math Certification (minimum grades 6–12) is required; candidates already math certified and eligible for Special Education certification will also be considered.
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum or with varied learning disabilities is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, IEP implementation, and evidence-based teaching strategies for middle school math.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify math curriculum to accommodate learning differences and support IEP goals for students in grades 6–8.
- Implement instructional strategies that engage students with high and low functioning autism and other learning needs.
- Maintain a classroom environment that fosters inclusion, collaboration, and respect.
- Work closely with support staff, therapists, and families to monitor progress and adjust teaching approaches.
- Participate in IEP meetings, data tracking, and ongoing professional development.
This position offers a stable, Monday through Friday schedule (8:30am–4:15pm; 40 hours per week) and compensation paid over 12 months. The salary ranges from $62,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience and education.
