One opening focuses on a self-contained classroom for grades K-1, while the other supports a Functional Life Skills (FLS) classroom for grades 2-4. Both positions are fully onsite at 37.5 hours per week.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Active Maine 282 Special Education teaching license
- Experience teaching in K-1 self-contained or grades 2-4 FLS settings preferred
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
Primary responsibilities include:
- Delivering personalized instruction that meets each student’s IEP goals
- Collaborating with faculty and support staff to support holistic student growth
- Engaging with parents and guardians to foster ongoing communication and partnership
- Monitoring progress, maintaining records, and adjusting strategies as needed
- Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and school activities onsite
