Step into an impactful contract opportunity guiding students in a Functional Life Skills classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. Based in the Garland, TX area, this position supports students from PK3 through 8th grade across several campuses and offers you the chance to foster independence, communication, and growth in young learners.
This contract role begins August 13, 2026 and runs through November 5th, with the possibility for extension through Christmas break depending on the start date. Serve in a diverse, caring learning environment, helping students develop critical life skills and achieve their fullest potential.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with students in life skills or self-contained classrooms preferred
- Passion for supporting and advocating for students with disabilities
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to work with varying grade levels (PK3-8th)
- Willingness to work across multiple campuses as needed
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and adapt instruction for students with a range of exceptionalities
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, and functional skill development
- Develop individualized plans that promote self-sufficiency and participation
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Foster an inclusive, positive, and engaging classroom environment
