Special Education Teacher | Gary, Indiana

Requirements and Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification

• Proficiency with existing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including writing, implementing, and monitoring progress
• Capable of fulfilling Teacher of Record responsibilities
• Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation
• Clear communication and the ability to work effectively as part of a student-centered team

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dynamic instruction and targeted interventions to 5th and 6th graders in both push-in and pull-out formats
• Develop, review, and update IEPs, maintaining ongoing progress monitoring
• Collaborate closely with general education staff, paraeducators, and specialists
• Ensure compliance with state and federal special education guidelines throughout daily practice
• Maintain records and communications, serving as the main point of contact for assigned students
• Participate actively in case conferences, parent meetings, and relevant professional development
