An opportunity is available for a dedicated Early Childhood Special Education Teacher to support young learners in a self-contained elementary setting. This full-time, contract role involves working with students in a half-day program that focuses on high-needs children, especially those with autism. The position requires expertise in instructional planning, Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, and behavior support within a structured, supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to self-contained classes capped at eight students
- Develop, write, and facilitate IEPs tailored to each student's needs
- Utilize the STARS curriculum alongside effective behavior intervention strategies
- Lead and mentor paraprofessionals in implementing IEP goals collaboratively
- Assist non-certified team members with IEP documentation and meetings
- Participate in kindergarten transition IEP meetings starting in January
Qualifications:
- Current Arizona Early Childhood Special Education License (AZ EC SPED)
- IVP Fingerprint Card must be included with application materials
- Extensive experience working with students with autism and other high-need profiles
- Strong skills in instructional planning and behavior support strategies
- Experience with the STARS curriculum is preferred
- Ability to lead paraprofessional teams and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary staff
Location and Schedule:
- Onsite position located in Glendale, AZ at an elementary school setting
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday with AM and PM sessions; Wednesdays have a rotating schedule
- Typical hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
