Make a difference in students’ lives as a contract Special Education Teacher serving high-needs classrooms and inclusion settings throughout a vibrant district near Glendale, AZ. Multiple openings are available for the upcoming school year, with placements across several campuses supporting life skills/transition programs, self-contained autism and behavioral classrooms, and a variety of inclusion settings. Candidates must be available for full-time, onsite positions and live within a 30-minute commute of Fairfax, Central, or Hayden.

Ideal candidates are passionate about fostering academic, social, and emotional growth for students with diverse abilities, including emotional disabilities and behavioral challenges. Experience in developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and facilitating programs for students with at-risk backgrounds, exceptionalities, or limited English proficiency is highly valued.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Arizona Secondary Teaching License
  • Current K-12 Special Education Certificate
  • IVP Fingerprint Card (must have prior to start)
  • Experience supporting students with emotional disabilities and other eligibility areas
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and district special education regulations
  • Willingness and ability to attend staff development and Essential Element of Effective Instruction (E.E.E.I.) training if not already completed
  • Experience in life skills/transition programs, structured intensive support, or behavioral/autism classrooms is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work onsite (no remote options offered)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and differentiated support in inclusion, life skills/CBT, and STRIVE (intensive support/autism) classrooms
  • Manage diverse caseloads, develop, and monitor IEPs and related documentation
  • Support prosocial and self-regulatory skill development
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented learning environment
