Special Education Teacher | Glens Falls, New York

Seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide part-time instruction for homebound students in the Glens Falls, NY area. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by bringing personalized education directly to students unable to attend school in person.

Your ability to adapt lesson plans and strategies for a range of learning needs, as well as your willingness to travel to students’ homes, will ensure each learner receives the educational support they deserve. Sessions will typically last 1-3 hours, and the frequency and number of students may vary week to week, so flexibility is essential.

Qualifications:

• Current NY Special Education (SPED) Teacher license required
• Prior experience teaching homebound or medically fragile students preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to travel within the Glens Falls area to students’ homes
• Creative problem-solver, able to tailor instruction to individual needs
• Comfort with tracking progress, maintaining records, and collaborating with families

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction to homebound students based on IEPs and district guidance
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate various learning challenges
• Collaborate with students’ families and support staff to ensure consistency in educational goals and plans
• Assess student progress, maintaining detailed notes and records as required
• Adjust schedule and instructional approach as needed based on student needs and family availability
