Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Special Education (Students with Disabilities) certification—or willingness to obtain/license in process
- Recent graduates or teachers with out-of-state certifications encouraged to apply; support for credential transfer available
- Preferred background working with students with level 3 autism, severe behaviors, and non-verbal/alternative communication users
- Experience with modifying curricula and administering alternative assessments highly valued
- Strong organizational skills for managing paperwork, IEPs, and individualized planning
Position Details & Responsibilities:
- Contract role, Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM–3:15 PM (up to 40 hours per week approved for additional planning or paperwork)
- Initial two weeks dedicated to thorough training and onboarding
- Engage students in individualized instruction within 8:1:3 classroom ratios
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to support students’ academic, behavioral, and communication goals
- Adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet the unique learning profiles of each student
- Complete IEPs, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and team members
