Make a difference in the lives of young students by supporting an affective needs special education classroom within an EC-8th grade district. This contract role involves working closely with a small group of 2nd and 3rd grade students, some of whom exhibit autism behaviors. You’ll be collaborating with two dedicated paraprofessionals in a supportive environment designed to foster growth and learning for every child.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Colorado certification in Special Education is required.
  • Proven experience teaching or supporting children with affective needs and autism spectrum behaviors.
  • Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Strong collaborative skills for coordinating with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families.
  • Compassionate, patient approach with a genuine commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted instruction to a group of four students based on their unique needs and IEP goals.
  • Work alongside two paraprofessionals to deliver academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
  • Maintain accurate progress reports and communicate regularly with colleagues and parents.
  • Establish a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages skill-building and confidence.
  • Adapt instructional strategies and resources to ensure each student’s engagement and progress.
