Soliant is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to support an elementary Life Skills classroom in Indiana for the 2026–2027 school year.

Assignment Details

Position: Special Education Teacher – Life Skills
Location: Goshen, Indiana
Schedule: Full-Time
Duration: October 26, 2026 – May 27, 2027
Setting: Elementary Life Skills Classroom
Caseload: 11 students
Classroom Support: 4 paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom
Student Population: Elementary students receiving specialized academic, functional, and life skills support

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction in an elementary Life Skills classroom.
  • Develop and implement individualized instruction based on students' academic, functional, developmental, and behavioral needs.
  • Support students in meeting their IEP goals and making meaningful progress.
  • Provide appropriate accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation related to IEP goals and services.
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, special education staff, administrators, related service providers, and families.
  • Maintain a structured, supportive, and positive classroom environment.
  • Provide functional and life skills instruction as appropriate to individual student needs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student planning and educational programming.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana PEL (Professional Educator License) with Special Education endorsements required.
  • At least 6 months of relevant experience required.
  • Experience working with students in a Life Skills or self-contained special education setting preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide individualized academic and functional instruction.
  • Ability to work throughout the assignment period from October 26, 2026 – May 27, 2027.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a Life Skills or self-contained special education classroom.
  • Experience supporting elementary-aged students with significant academic, functional, or behavioral needs.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IEP goals.
  • Familiarity with accommodations, modifications, differentiated instruction, and functional skill development.
  • Experience collaborating with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary school teams.
