Exciting opportunities are available for skilled Special Education professionals to make a meaningful impact in K-12 classrooms within an urban school environment. Multiple openings exist for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year, providing a chance to support students with diverse learning needs across a range of self-contained and resource settings.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate, ideally with endorsements in Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Early Childhood Special Education (ZA), or Learning Disabilities (LD)
- Experience or strong knowledge of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations
- Familiarity with the challenges and strengths of working with urban student populations
- Comfortable with onsite, in-person teaching; virtual-only candidates cannot be accommodated
- Ability to provide official university transcripts prior to hire
Primary Responsibilities:
- Instruct and support K–12 students across Cognitive Impairment and Resource classrooms, as well as middle school students in Emotional Impairment programs
- Manage class sizes up to 22 students in self-contained settings and adapt to caseload variations as enrollment needs shift
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, 1:1 aides, behavior specialists, and a strong special education and student support team
- Implement IEPs, ensure compliance with MARSE guidelines, and contribute to a positive learning environment
- Participate in remote interviews and ongoing district-led professional development and mentoring
