Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Early Childhood Special Education, supporting young learners in a nurturing, collaborative setting. This contract position is located near Grand Haven, MI, and begins as a part-time role with the potential to evolve into full-time as enrollment grows.
You’ll enjoy the autonomy of having your own classroom, assisted by a dedicated team of three aides. Currently, you’ll focus on six students, with the possibility of welcoming more throughout the year. You’ll also benefit from the support of a seasoned ECSE colleague, providing guidance as needed, ensuring you’re set up for success in the classroom.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (Early Childhood endorsement preferred)
- Experience working with early childhood or preschool-aged children with diverse needs
- Strong knowledge of IEP processes and special education best practices
- Ability to create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and collaborate with paraprofessionals
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with families and multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique strengths and areas for growth
- Foster a supportive, engaging, and organized learning space for young children
- Collaborate with classroom assistants to deliver differentiated instruction and care
- Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Connect regularly with families, providing updates and resources as needed
- Work closely with an experienced ECSE teacher for mentorship and collaboration
