This opportunity offers a dynamic Special Education teaching assignment, with a schedule from 7:40 AM to 3:20 PM, Monday through Friday — including a paid lunch and a full hour for paid planning each day — totaling approximately 39 hours per week. The position runs from August 12, 2026, through May 21, 2027, and may involve teaching either a 3rd or 8th-grade classroom. Assignment includes a mix of self-contained settings, as well as push-in and pull-out instruction, covering core subjects such as math, reading, science, and social studies.

Key Qualifications:

  • Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement covering PreK-22 required
  • Previous experience managing behavioral challenges is highly desirable, as many students have behavior disorders
  • Confident in teaching across grade bands; flexibility is essential as final placement (3rd or 8th grade) will be determined closer to start date
  • Extensive hands-on experience with IEP writing, including independent development of educational goals and completion of full IEPs

Your Role Will Involve:

  • Delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs in both traditional and inclusive settings
  • Implementing effective behavior management strategies
  • Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff
