Special Education Teacher | Great Barrington, Massachusetts

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education
• Prior experience with significantly disabled student populations (cognitive and physical)
• Comfort with providing toileting support and managing non-verbal communication needs
• Background working with students with autism and familiarity with applied behavior analysis is highly valued
• Experience delivering specially designed instruction targeting Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
• Collaborative mindset for working alongside RBT support and other professionals

Role Responsibilities:

• Manage a substantially separate classroom for either K-1st grade or 3rd-5th grade students with severe disabilities
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet varied student needs, utilizing ABA techniques where appropriate
• Oversee daily routines, including personal care and toileting support as needed
• Develop and implement IEPs; monitor progress and document growth
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
• Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom environment that encourages communication and independence, regardless of students' ability levels
