Special Education Teacher | Greenbrier, Tennessee

Make an impact in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary life-skills students in a K-4th grade setting. This contract opportunity is near Greenbrier, TN, and focuses on providing specialized instruction and care to a caseload of approximately 15 students, with plans to share responsibilities alongside another educator. You’ll have dedicated paraprofessional support to foster the best learning environment for your students.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Special Education Teacher certification with 461 endorsement required
• Experience working with elementary-aged students (K-4th grade) preferred
• Strong understanding of life-skills curriculum, IEP processes, and best practices in special education
• Ability to collaborate with co-teachers, paraprofessionals, families, and related service providers
• Solid classroom management and communication skills
• Dedication to fostering inclusivity, growth, and positive relationships with students of all abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction focused on life-skills for students in grades K-4
• Collaborate closely with another teacher to share caseload (anticipated to be 7-8 students each)
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure each child’s educational needs are met
• Communicate regularly with families, support staff, and educational team members
• Utilize paraprofessional support within the classroom for additional guidance and student engagement
• Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to accommodate student learning styles and needs
• Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in team meetings as needed
