Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher working with middle school students in Stamford, CT. This contract position provides the opportunity to guide learners in either a self-contained classroom with approximately 8 students or a resource/co-teaching setting with 20-25 students. Focus areas include English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, supporting students’ growth and achievement in essential academic skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to students with diverse learning needs in ELA and Mathematics
- Write Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), aligning goals with student strengths and areas for growth
- Present at and participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with families and staff
- Assess and monitor student progress, ensuring effective goal tracking
- Conduct testing for progress monitoring and eligibility as needed
- Work closely with general education teachers in co-taught environments
- Case management is provided by the district office so you can dedicate your time to instruction
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement is required
- At least two years of recent, relevant experience teaching in a special education setting
- Proficient in developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Passion for supporting students with unique learning needs
