In this contract special education teaching position, you'll lead a classroom of approximately 10-12 students, working side-by-side with three dedicated assistants to ensure each child receives the individualized instruction and care they deserve.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Demonstrated experience or passion for working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Strong organizational skills and flexibility to adapt teaching strategies as needed
- Ability to collaborate effectively with instructional assistants, other staff, and families
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering growth and independence in students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's strengths and needs
- Provide engaging, differentiated instruction in both academic and life skills domains
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly
- Work closely with assistants to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom climate
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other professionals
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development
