A public elementary school in Groton, CT is seeking a Special Education Teacher to cover a medical leave from January 21 through March 11, with two additional days for overlap and shadowing at both the start and end of the assignment. This contract position offers the opportunity to provide essential resource services to students in grades 2 and 3.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to a caseload of 16 students requiring special education resource services
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with state and district guidelines
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure student progress and success
- Maintain detailed documentation and communication regarding student goals and accommodations
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification required
- Experience working with elementary aged children, particularly in grades 2 and 3
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, best practices, and instructional strategies
- Ability to manage a moderate caseload efficiently and compassionately
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM to 3:45 PM
