Special Ed Teacher - Groton, Connecticut

A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed for a Middle School Life Skills classroom supporting students in grades 6-8. This contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year. The role is ideal for an educator with experience in self-contained special education settings who is passionate about fostering independence and growth in students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained Life Skills classroom for middle school students (grades 6-8).
• Develop, write, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure compliance and meet each student’s unique goals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.
• Implement behavioral and instructional plans that promote social, academic, and functional skills.
• Maintain detailed records of student performance and communicate regularly with families and school staff.

Qualifications:

• Valid state certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with middle school students, preferably in Life Skills or self-contained settings.
• Proficient in writing and managing IEPs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
