Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Special Education Teacher working with Grade 8 students in an engaging co-teaching environment. This position runs from August 17, 2026, through June 22, 2027, focusing on English and Social Studies. Collaborate with another educator, managing a shared caseload of approximately 13 students and bringing your expertise in individualized instruction to an inclusive classroom setting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid New York State Educator License with Special Education Endorsement
  • Minimum of two years of recent teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to write and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Experience working collaboratively with related services staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive learning environment
  • Flexibility, organizational skills, and a commitment to educational excellence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach Grade 8 English and Social Studies, ensuring the needs of students with disabilities are met
  • Develop and manage effective IEPs tailored to individual student requirements
  • Coordinate regularly with co-teachers and related services staff for optimal student support
  • Track student progress, document interventions, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere for all students
