Step into a meaningful and impactful role as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive and collaborative school environment near Gurnee, IL. This contract opportunity runs from August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027, and offers a full-time, in-person schedule totaling approximately 33.25 hours per week.
Two positions are available: Life Skills Self-Contained or Instructional/Resource. Your expertise and passion will help shape the success and confidence of students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid and active Professional Educator License (PEL) required (please provide a copy upon applying)
- Experience with special education preferred, particularly in Life Skills or Resource settings
- Familiarity with IEP creation, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with students, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to supporting students’ academic, behavioral, and social development
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction based on students’ IEPs, adapting lessons and strategies as needed
- Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth and independence
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents/guardians to support each child's success
- Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and shape future instruction
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide initiatives
