Special Education Teacher | Harker Heights, Texas

Make a difference every day by supporting elementary-aged students in a life skills classroom, located near Harker Heights, TX. This contract role is tailored for a Special Education Teacher who is passionate about working with children who have moderate to severe needs, including some with significant behavioral challenges. You’ll lead a classroom of 8–10 inspiring students, supported full-time by two dedicated paraprofessionals and access to a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). The ideal start date is as soon as possible, but the right match is more important—the assignment extends through May 2027.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Special Education teaching license with EC–6th certification.
• Experience in life skills or similar settings supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities.
• Strong classroom management skills and a compassionate approach to behavioral and learning challenges.
• Ability to collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, RBTs, and related support staff.
• Commitment to developing individualized educational strategies and fostering student independence.

Role Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized instruction tailored to IEP goals and life skills development.
• Differentiate lessons for each student, ensuring accessibility and engagement for diverse learners.
• Work proactively with classroom paras and RBT to address behavioral and learning objectives.
• Maintain clear and positive communication with families and school-based support teams.
• Document student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs.
