Step into a rewarding opportunity in special education, supporting middle school students for a maternity leave coverage this fall. This full-time, onsite contract role is ideally suited for compassionate, adaptable educators eager to make an immediate impact in the classroom. The position spans late September through the end of December within a dynamic resource room environment for 6th–8th graders and includes some collaborative co-teaching with general education instructors.

You’ll work closely with approximately 20 students, fostering individual growth through personalized instruction and targeted support. Using your expertise, guide students in building confidence and essential academic skills, while collaborating with families and team members to enhance each learner’s educational experience.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification (CT SPED License required)
  • Prior experience teaching in resource room or co-teaching settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and implementation processes
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adapt instruction to meet varying student needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support for students in grades 6–8 within the resource room setting
  • Co-teach with general educators to deliver effective, inclusive lessons
  • Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff and families to ensure student success
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date case management for assigned students
