Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification in the state of Connecticut
• Experience working in K-5 classroom settings, specifically self-contained or ASD programs
• Strong knowledge of individualized education programs (IEP) and instructional adaptations
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families
• Ability to create structured, engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning needs
• Positive, patient approach to managing behavior and facilitating inclusion

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for each student, ensuring academic, emotional, and social progress
• Adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to meet unique learning goals
• Foster a safe, welcoming classroom environment that encourages curiosity and confidence
• Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and other support staff
• Maintain accurate documentation of student performance and communication with parents/guardians
• Participate in professional development activities and team meetings
